Study Off-Campus During Your First Year
Have you thought about studying off-campus during college? Interested in a rare opportunity to participate in a St. Lawrence program in Fall 2027 or even Spring 2027? First-year students admitted through the Early Decision (ED) or Early Action (EA) process are eligible to apply to our Global Scholars Program, secure an early spot in one of our popular off-campus study experiences, and receive $1,000 in additional financial support before even arriving at St. Lawrence!
As a Global Scholar, you can analyze debates about environmental conservation, public health, and development in Kenya...take a course on the European Union or theater in London...study business, psychology, and the media in Spain...or even live in an off-the-grid yurt village in the Adirondacks! Our Signature Off-Campus Programs offer a unique experiential learning opportunity, close mentoring from faculty, and a great chance to find your place and people at St. Lawrence.
I applied to the Global Scholars Program because it's an amazing opportunity to study abroad my first year. I am very excited to dive into the world of environmental conservation in Kenya and do something out of my comfort zone so early in college. This program definitely influence my decision to enroll at St. Lawrence. If you're considering applying, just go for it!"

Which semester is right for you?
Fall of Sophomore Year
This is an ideal semester to study off-campus, as it gives you a full year to connect with your new classmates, our faculty, and the St. Lawrence curriculum. Fall of sophomore year is also best for students who are still exploring their major/minor plans, as it serves as a transition semester from introductory courses and general education requirements to declaring your major in the spring of sophomore year. Fall also offers more space for students on off-campus programs to maximize your chances in the competitive selection process. Finally, for those students interested in health careers, the fall programs allow you to take a full year of biology and/or chemistry to stay on track for a variety of STEM majors before you depart.
