When a local farmer in the Town of LeRay, New York began to prepare his field for the coming growing season, he discovered something unexpected: human skeletal remains. That’s when Mindy Pitre, Associate Professor and Chair of Anthropology, was called in as a bioarcheological consultant—charged with excavating and analyzing any human skeletal remains recovered.
The St. Lawrence University Alumni Executive Council (AEC) recently partnered with faculty to create a hands-on learning experience that connected Laurentians across generations—and continents.
On Friday, April 24, student brilliance was on display for our festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity. Across campus, the St. Lawrence community came together to celebrate student research presentations, musical and dance performances, and the senior art exhibition. This campus tradition has been a highlight of the spring semester since 2014.

Zoe Jackowitz ’23 was awarded “Best Student Poster” for her research on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at the 15th Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa (ASMEA) in November.
