    Next Chapter Ahead for SLU Combined Engineering Students

    This fall, four students in SLU’s Combined Engineering Program are heading to Columbia University, Clarkson University, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where they’ll specialize in everything from chemical to biomedical engineering. What drew them to engineering? What will they carry forward from SLU? We asked, and they had plenty to share.

    Before they don their caps and gowns for Commencement on Sunday, May 18, members of St. Lawrence University’s Class of 2025 are taking a moment to reflect on the classes, mentors, and moments that shaped their time on campus. From NCAA tournament appearances and mountain summits to honors research and advocacy across continents, these seniors have pursued their passions with purpose.

    St. Lawrence's Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics held its 13th Pi-athlon to celebrate Pi Day. Held at Peterson Quantitative Resource Center in Valentine Hall, students partook in various events including Sudoku, mathematically themed video games, puzzle making, etc.

    Eliza's presentation featured research she completed with Dr. Gabriel Dorfsman-Hopkins: "Exploring Mandelbrot Escape Velocity," where she created 3D prints depicting how quickly points pass outside the Mandlebrot set move towards infinity.
