Why did you choose SLU?
I chose SLU because of its strong focus on community-based learning, small class sizes, and the close relationships students can build with professors. I also wanted a supportive and welcoming community where I could grow both academically and personally.
Pronouns: She/her
CBL courses taken:
FYP – Plights and Promises of Small-Town America
FYS – Childhood Across Cultures
Why did you apply to be a CM:
I applied to be a CM because I want to support students in discovering the value of CBL, just like I did in my own first-year courses. My CBL experience was one of the highlights of my first year. I built real bonds with community partners, and even after my course ended last fall, they still invited me to their events. Being a CM feels like a chance to give back to a program that shaped my first year so much, while also growing as a mentor and leader.
What do you like most or enjoy most about SLU?
I love the strong sense of community at SLU and how welcoming everyone is. There are so many opportunities here that have helped me grow, especially in developing as a leader and finding new ways to get involved both on campus and in the wider community.
What are the benefits of a student taking a CBL course during their time at SLU?
CBL courses help students connect classroom learning to the real world. They give students a chance to understand community needs, develop empathy, and build practical skills while living a meaningful experience.
