Early Decision/Early Action Applicants

Early Decision

Our Early Decision program begins each year on November 1 and ends on February 1. Students who decide after November 1 that St. Lawrence is their first choice, can commit to Early Decision at any time up until February 1. Admissions staff review Early Decision applications on a continual basis, and we notify Early Decision applicants as their applications become complete.

Early Decision applicants who wish to be considered for financial assistance are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a student application for federal and need-based aid programs. Students may complete the FAFSA online using this link.

The FAFSA should be completed when the admissions application is submitted. Early Decision applicants will be asked to submit 2022 federal tax returns and W2s, along with a St. Lawrence University Application in order for us to generate estimated aid figures prior to the FAFSA being completed.

Notification of preliminary financial assistance for Early Decision applicants will be at the same time as notification of the admissions decision as long as we have completed financial aid documents. Once the 2024-2025 FAFSA can be completed, updated financial aid details will be confirmed for Early Decision applicants.

Early Action

Students who prefer to receive their admissions decision earlier in the year can apply Early Action before December 1. Admissions staff review Early Action applications between November 1 and December 1 and notify applicants of their decision in mid to late January.

Early Action applicants who wish to be considered for financial assistance are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a student application for federal and need-based aid programs. Students may complete the FAFSA online using this link.

*Early Action applicants should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.

Early Action applicants will receive their Admissions decision, along with notification of merit scholarship status in January. Notification of need-based aid, student loans, and work-study opportunities will be sent later in the cycle once we have received and reviewed the 2024-2025 FAFSA results.
