String Orchestra
The String Orchestra is open by audition to orchestral string players including students, staff, and faculty from the SLU campus as well as local professional and semi-professional musicians and talented local students. We endeavor to create memorable concert experiences for our audiences, whether it be standard repertoire or lighter pop music program selections.
A dedicated approach and passionate focus from its players have given the SLU String Orchestra its exceptional musical reputation on the university campus and throughout the local community.
The spring 2026 semester's program, Celebrating 60 Years of Star Trek, features notable selections from several motion picture and television scores from the historic sci-fi franchise, and includes woodwinds, brass and percussion in addition to the strings. Selections include music by Jerry Goldsmith, Alexander Courage, Jay Chattaway, James Horner and Michael Giacchino.
