Laurentian Singers

A select chamber choir of undergraduate student singers, the Laurentians continue a 77-year legacy of choral excellence, performing regularly throughout the year on campus, in the North Country, and nationally or internationally on tour during spring break each year. Their far-ranging repertoire is drawn from the entire span of Euro-American classical traditions as well as world and popular idioms.

Director Barry Torres’ last tour will end where his first tour in March 1999 began: in Burlington, Vermont. This will be the last stop on the Laurentian Singers tour to New York City and Boston with stops in Rochester, New York, and New Haven, Connecticut. Tour dates are Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 26. The NYC and Boston areas are home to the greatest concentration of SLU alums in the world, and the Singers hope to connect with many former Laurentian Singers and other alums. Repertoire will include music from the Italian Renaissance, a West Side Story set that will include “Somewhere,” “Tonight” and “A Boy Like That—I Have a Love,” Gershwin songs “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “I Got Rhythm,” and the Beach Boys classic “Good Vibrations.”
