Frederic Remington Art Museum - https://stlawu.joinhandshake.com/edu/jobs/9533222 Digital Archives Intern
• Scan photographs, letters, postcards, and other writings by Frederic Remington, as well as exhibition catalogues and other ephemera from his life
• Edit, process, and upload digital images to PastPerfect collections management database
• Input descriptive information and update current location for works on paper in the Museum’s Permanent Collection. This may involve transcribing handwritten letters and other written materials and researching contextual historical information as appropriate.
• Create content metadata “tags” for each object digitized; vet data and check for accuracy
• Compose a weekly social media post(s) about the digitization project;
• Help research and craft additional social media content using Tik Tok and other social media platforms to highlight a work in The Permanent Collection on social media.

• Take photos for social media, press releases, and website.
• Post weekly on NCCM social media including Facebook and Instagram
• Draft monthly e-news through Mailchimp
• Prepare draft press releases through traditional press: Watertown Daily Times, North Country Now, NCPR, etc.
• Assist in planning fundraising event: Adult Night at the Children’s Museum
• Create posters and graphics for special events through platform Canva (or other graphic design website)
• Write content for social media and examine results, present to Director.
• Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on marketing initiatives launched for NCCM Board of Directors
• 1-2 days per week of the internship will be assisting with education initiatives so the intern has a deeper understanding of institution’s mission.

• Assist the Engagement & Advancement Coordinator with the creation of e-blasts and other promotional materials, including online videos.
• Complete an introductory video for museum visitors about the history of the Silas Wright House, the Wright Family and Historical Association (much of the project work has been done by previous intern).
• Work to develop interactive components for new or existing museum exhibits.
• Create social media posts for museum’s Facebook/Instagram pages; Assist with website content updates.
• Network with other businesses, organizations and individuals through current media outlets.
• Serve as a museum liaison at various summer festivals and outreach events, collecting visitor data through surveys.

Inventory and Catalog Historical Items
• Thoroughly document each item in the collection, including photographs, descriptions, historical context, and condition assessments.
• Prioritize items for display based on significance, condition, and space limitations.
Develop Exhibit Design and Layout
• Create a cohesive layout for the museum space, organizing items thematically {e.g., artwork, fundraising artifacts, documents) for an engaging visitor experience.
• Design mock-ups or sketches of the display setup, considering aesthetics, flow, and accessibility.
• Order items needed for exhibit {ex. display fixtures, signage, lighting, preservation supplies, etc.)
Create Descriptive Content and Interactive Elements
• Write descriptive placards and labels to provide historical context for each item on display.
• Develop multimedia elements (e.g., slideshow of photographs) to enhance the exhibit, if feasible.
Assemble the Exhibit and Conduct Quality Review
• Set up items in the museum space, work with maintenance staff to ensuring proper mounting and display quality.
• Host a soft opening with staff or stakeholders to gather feedback, make adjustments, and finalize the exhibit for public viewing.
Plan and Host an Opening Event for the Museum Space (if time permits)
• Organize a formal opening event, including invitations, event timeline, and a brief presentation on the exhibit's highlights and historical significance.
• Coordinate event logistics, refreshments, guest engagement, etc.
