Laurentian Sidekicks
The best volunteers aren't always the ones with the most free time.
Many Laurentians are willing and eager to help but hesitate to commit to an ongoing volunteer role because of work, family, or other obligations.
Laurentian Sidekicks removes that barrier.
Laurentian Sidekicks is a flexible network of St. Lawrence alumni, parents, and friends who want to stay connected and lend a hand when opportunities arise. From sharing a social media post to welcoming an admitted student, Sidekicks can choose the opportunities that fit their interests, schedules, and availability.
How It Works
1. Sign up to be a Sidekick.
You'll join a network of Laurentians who are interested in occasional volunteer opportunities.
2. Wait for the signal.
When St. Lawrence has a need, we'll reach out with a specific opportunity and all the information you need to participate.
3. Answer the call—when you can.
Every opportunity is optional. If you have the time and want to help, jump in. If you don't, just wait for the next call.
What Might a Sidekick Do?
Opportunities may include:
- Share, comment, or re-share a social media post! You might promote the St. Lawrence Fund at the end of June, promote news from St. Lawrence, or congratulate the next class of Laurentians when we share acceptance letters mailing.
- Be an Advocate for the Here We Go Saints and/or the 1856 Challenge by making a gift and sharing the challenge page.
- Welcome admitted students by sending a brief congratulatory message.
- Answer questions from prospective students in an online forum.
- Submit a nomination for an alumni award.
- Help promote regional events.
- Scarlet & Brown Day event organizer.
- Refer prospective students or encourage fellow Laurentians to reconnect with the University.
There are countless ways Laurentians make a difference for St. Lawrence. Laurentian Sidekicks is simply an invitation to make that difference when, where, and how you can.
