Supporting Our KSP Legacy
Dear KSP Alumni,
We are united by two specific places: St. Lawrence and Kenya. Both had a big impact on my personal development—and I’m guessing yours too.
We gained knowledge in these places and learned to appreciate how culture shaped us. We began to understand our roles in a global community.
Now, the Kenya Semester Program (KSP) needs our support. St. Lawrence established the Engaging Africa Initiative Fund to raise $1,000,000 dollars by 2024, the 50th Anniversary of the program. Now, at $533,000, we’ve raised more than half that amount.
By reaching the goal, we’ll create an endowment that will finance—in perpetuity—KSP summer programs, internships, on-campus lectures, and help support African students attend SLU.
The endowment will support and maintain SLU’s national leadership in African studies and international learning. Most importantly, this will also ensure that future students will have the same incredible personal enrichment that we did.
I gave $1,000 and I’m writing now in hopes you can give as well. Maybe that’s too much for you right now or maybe you can give more. Whatever the amount, please make your contribution. It’s an investment in the future of KSP and—as members of the program’s legacy—we are the ones who can ensure this life-changing opportunity remains accessible to St. Lawrence students for generations to come.
To make your gift now, click here and select “Engaging Africa” in the drop-down box. My heartfelt thanks to all those who already contributed to this fund. We’ll continue to update the total as we approach and reach our goal.
Asante sana,
Paul Tourbaf ’91
