The University Communications team includes professionals who boast a range of experiences and work in partnership with our graphic design, website, social media, photography and video professionals to create consistent, effective and integrated messaging.

We will work directly with campus departments - academic and professional - to tell the St. Lawrence University story, promote the intellectual richness of the academic community, and highlight student achievements while adhering to university brand standards. While content is often generated within University Communications, our team regretfully cannot take on all projects. Therefore, we welcome departmental content providers who write with purpose, reflect the St. Lawrence mission, highlight our academic achievements, and promote on-campus events that include both the campus and public communities.

Editorial Services include:

  • Coordination with news media
  • Fielding reporter inquiries
  • Distribution of news releases 
  • Posts to
  • Merit accolades and hometown news releases for student achievements
  • News Digest weekly news roundup
  • Sourcing opinion pieces from faculty and students
  • Responding to media requests for expert sources
  • Photography and video solutions and consultations
  • Alumni magazine publication, including class notes and obituaries
  • Major gift announcements
  • Promotion of institutional accolades

Publicity Planning:

  • Please let our office know of your campus event no less than two (2) weeks in advance. Items submitted less than two weeks in advance are subject to approval
    • Events are featured in News Digest the week the event takes place
  • Include time, date, campus location and whether or not the event is free and open to the public
  • Provide background and biographical information for performances, guest speakers, discussion, presentations, etc.
  • Include one photograph preferably at least 300 dpi digital images
  • Every effort will be made to include brief news items submitted by noon on Thursday in the next News Digest the following Monday. Items submitted after this deadline will be included at a later date

Note: Editorial Services does not promote off-campus events unless sponsored directly by St. Lawrence University or directly includes student involvement
