Emory University Summer Undergraduate Research Experience: A program that supports undergraduates who wish to explore, experience, and conduct cutting-edge scientific research.
Kansas State University (KSU) Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (SUROP): The Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (SUROP) at Kansas State University (KSU) gives undergraduates from under-represented groups a first-hand experience with the research process. This experience is designed to help students prepare for graduate school and other advanced study.
The Leadership Alliance Summer Research - Early Identification Program (SR-EIP): Encourages students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities to pursue research careers in the academic, public and private sectors.
Michigan State University Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP): The goal of the program is to increase the number of domestic undergraduate students who pursue graduate study and careers in teaching and research at colleges and universities. MSU SROP helps prepare undergraduate students for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and academic enrichment activities.
MIT Summer Research Program: The MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP) seeks to promote the value of graduate education; to improve the research enterprise through increased diversity; and to prepare and recruit the best and brightest for graduate education at MIT. This program’s goal is to increase the number of underrepresented minorities and underserved (e.g. low socio-economic background, first generation) students in the research enterprise.

SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities.
University at Albany Summer Research Program (UASRP): An annual Summer Research Program which offers qualified underrepresented undergraduates an enriching and valuable research experience. Participants are placed under the direction and guidance of faculty members and researchers from various institutions and agencies, such as the University at Albany, Pharmaceutical Research Institute Albany College of Pharmacy, Albany Medical College, NYS Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center, Stratton VA Medical Center and other sites or departments for an intensive 8 week residential program.
University of Arizona Summer Research Institute (SRI): An outstanding opportunity to learn how to conduct research, enjoy your summer, and prepare for graduate studies at The University of Arizona (UA), a highly-ranked Research Extensive (Research I) Land Grant institution with a large multicultural student body and over 200 graduate programs in a myriad of fields.
University of California, Riverside Mentoring Summer Research Internship Program (MSRIP): A summer research program designed for rising juniors, seniors (and some masters students) from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Participants work under the supervision of a faculty mentor on the mentor’s research project.
University of California, Santa Barbara Academic Research Consortium: The Academic Research Consortium (ARC) Summer Program provides mentored research experiences in all disciplines to undergraduates at the junior level or continuing seniors with the potential to succeed in graduate study, but who have experienced situations or conditions that have adversely impacted their advancement in their field of study. The program targets talented and motivated students who can benefit from additional encouragement and academic support.
University of Maryland Summer Research Initiative (SRI): This program is designed to encourage and enhance the diversity of scholars working in the social and behavioral science fields. The goals of the SRI are to increase the knowledge of, and interest in, doctoral-level training in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences and provide rising juniors and seniors an opportunity to learn about graduate studies and the range of research and scholarship in the social, behavioral and economic sciences.
University of South Florida Summer Research Institute: The Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI) at the University of South Florida is dedicated to research and education related to mental illness and related disorders. FMHI invites undergraduate students to apply for a highly selective Summer Research Institute designed for students interested in building their research skills within the context of mental health to help them prepare for a Senior Thesis and/or graduate school.
University of Virginia Summer Undergraduate Research Program: This internship program is designed to encourage students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the field of education research to pursue graduate study and consider careers in academic, policy, or research organizations. Interns will work on research focusing on schools, classrooms, and other youth settings as contexts critical to child and adolescent development.
University of Wisconsin–Madison Summer Research Opportunities: The University of Wisconsin–Madison offers a number of Summer Research Opportunities to undergraduate students. These are unique opportunities for undergraduates to work closely with faculty mentors and graduate students in their major discipline. Students gain valuable skills for success in post-graduate studies and careers in their chosen field. The SROP goal is to create a diverse academic environment by increasing the number of traditionally underrepresented students in UW–Madison graduate programs and ultimately the professoriate.
