University Communications Student Marketing Team Application

The mission of St. Lawrence’s Integrated Marketing Student team is to act as an extension of the University Communications team and achieve the following: create dynamic visual and written content that aligns with the University’s marketing priorities and can be used seamlessly across social media, web, and print platforms; collaborate with staff and fellow team members to execute projects and content for various campaigns; offer insights and constructive criticism; gain professional marketing and content creation experience with real-world applications; and generate other unique ideas to amplify student voices across campus with authentic storytelling that demonstrates to the world what makes St. Lawrence special and what our students are capable of.

This is a paid position and is considered an internship in the University Communications department. As a result, interns should expect to commit up to 4 hours a week to this role. Academics come first, but interns will be expected to prioritize their commitment to the role, to their assignments, and to regular attendance and communication with staff and team members.

Requirements:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience creating written and visual content for a variety of social media channels and/or print and digital platforms
    • Professional experience is encouraged but not required
  • Enthusiasm for the St. Lawrence experience

The five components to this application include:

  • Background Information. Please make sure your application includes your:
    1. Name, class year, and major/minor (if you haven't declared yet, that's fine! Tell us what you're interested in)
    2. Twitter/Instagram handles (Private accounts? @oliviakwhite and @ameliajantzi may request to follow).
    3. Whether or not you are eligible for work-study.
  • A detailed resume, including past and current roles both on and off campus. We are looking for members who bring unique perspectives but who also have the time to create content and attend events.
     
  • A digital identity audit. We want to make sure you’re posting and sharing positive content and that your presence is not a detriment to yourself, others or St. Lawrence.
     
  • A writing sample of at least 200 to no more than 800 words that you feel demonstrates your skill and voice as a writer.
     
  • Statements of interest. Spelling, grammar and punctuation will be taken into consideration when evaluating your responses. Please limit each answer to 250 words or less.
