English 409/Communications Internship

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMPLETING THIS APPLICATION:

Students in the ENG 409 course are considered interns for the University Communications department and contribute to advancing the University’s communications strategies through a series of weekly writing assignments. Students have the opportunity to submit content for use in the University’s print and digital outlets including the institution’s quarterly magazine, the University website, and social media platforms. Students collaborate with the University Communications team to develop content targeting a variety of audiences, including alumni, parents, current and prospective students, and faculty and staff.

By enrolling in ENG 409, students earn course credit through the English department. Because of the amount of time that must be devoted to weekly assignments, we strongly discourage enrolling in this internship as a fifth course.  Applicants are considered on the basis of writing courses taken, writing skills, attention to detail, accuracy, proven ability to meet deadlines, and willingness to give and receive constructive criticism in a collegial and professional manner. Consistent attendance is critical to fulfilling the assignments in this course.
