Pathways

The pathways listed below are informal tracks given to guide environmental science majors on a path through the major that matches their interests. There are 6 pathways, briefly described below. Note that, while the major declaration form will require that you select a pathway that most closely matches your interests, the major can be completed in others ways, as long as the requirements on Environmental Science Major Requirements are satisfied.

  1. Changing Landscapes: blends Earth surface processes with environmental applications, giving graduates a strong foundation in both geoscience and environmental science. Integrates Geology with Environmental Science.
  2. Ecosystem Sciences: integrates ecological expertise with applied environmental problem-solving. Integrates Biology with Environmental Science.
  3. Energy: provides experience at the intersection of physical sciences, energy systems, and sustainability. Integrates Physics with Environmental Science.
  4. Environmental Analytics: equips students with the ability to transform complex environmental data into practical findings that guide decision-making and policy. Integrates Statistics and Data Science with Environmental Science.
  5. Environmental Chemistry: applies chemical expertise to solving pressing environmental challenges. Integrates Chemistry with Environmental Science.
  6. Environmental Science and Policy: bridges the gap between scientific knowledge and policymaking. Integrates Environmental Studies and Policy with Environmental Science.
