When distance standout Nick Lyndaker ’26 broke a 52-year-old St. Lawrence outdoor mile record this spring, one of his biggest fans was the man whose name he replaced in the record book.
Lee Pollock ’74 drove more than three hours to watch Lyndaker eclipse the mark he had set, a fitting passing of the torch between two generations of Saints.
The record was one more milestone in one of the greatest careers in program history. Lyndaker clocked a 3:59.42 indoor mile, the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history and finished as an 11-time All-American, four-time USTFCCCA Mideast Region Runner of the Year, and the only Saint ever to qualify individually for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in all four collegiate seasons. He graduated holding multiple Liberty League and St. Lawrence records, leaving an extraordinary legacy for the next generation to chase.
