SentinelOne, Endpoint Protection Software

SentinelOne Endpoint Protection

Overview

SentinelOne is an endpoint protection platform that helps detect, prevent, and respond to malware and other security threats in real time. It runs quietly in the background and provides enhanced protection for university computers. As part of our ongoing security efforts, SentinelOne will be deployed to university-owned Windows and Mac devices.

What to Expect

  • Before deployment, you'll receive a targeted communication from the IT Team.
  • Deployment will occur automatically through our management systems:
    • Windows devices: via System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
    • Mac devices: via Just Another Management Framework (JAMF)
  • You may notice:
    • A brief performance impact during installation
    • A notification related to the installation
  • You should plan to restart your device at some point on the day of deployment (end of day is fine).
  • If you experience performance lag after installation, a restart typically resolves the issue.

If You Are Working Remotely (Windows Only)

If you are off campus during deployment, please follow the steps below to ensure your device receives the update:

  1. Connect to the VPN
  2. Open Control Panel
  3. Click System and Security (if in Category view)
  4. Click Configuration Manager
  5. Select the Actions tab
  6. Select Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
  7. Click Run Now, then click OK

After Installation

SentinelOne runs in the background and does not require user interaction. You should not need to configure anything.
