Student Accessibility Services

Student Accessibility Services is dedicated to providing students with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in St. Lawrence programs, courses and activities through reasonable accommodations and services. Our office is here to support students, staff and faculty with accommodation requests, implementation, guidance and general information.

We strongly encourage students to self-identify and reach out to our office as early as possible to engage in the interactive process that helps to determine reasonable academic and residential accommodations.

Eligibility

Who is eligible to receive services through Disability Services?

Students who have a documented disability and provide documentation of the disability that impacts their academic performance may be eligible.

Students are responsible for self-disclosing their disability to SAS and for providing documentation to determine eligibility. The contact must be by the student and not a representative of the student.

Eligible students must also meet the academic and technical standards required for admission to college programs or activities.

We serve students with a wide variety of visible and invisible disabilities including but not limited to:

  • Migraines
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Seizures
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Dyslexia/Dysgraphia
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Hearing Loss
  • Diabetes and other medical conditions

What types of accommodations are available?

Depending on the nature and functional limitations of a student’s documented disability, they may be eligible for academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids and services (referred to as accommodations). Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon the nature of each course and the method of instruction as it relates to the student’s documented disability.
