Message #3, sent April 12, 2024 to all students:

      Good day,

In preparation for registration, we often get questions about course load.  Changes in course load and student status have long-reaching effects, so here are some facts you should know before making a decision:

      Full Time Enrollment

      • Students must be enrolled for 3.5 units (generally 4 courses) to maintain a student status of full-time.
      • Students who begin the semester on a part-time status, or who fall to part-time during the first month of the semester by dropping or withdrawing from a course (down to a total of three course units or fewer), will be certified as part-time students for New York state financial aid purposes including TAP, other private scholarships that require full-time certification, and repayment of student loans. Athletes who participate in an NCAA sport, international students, and veterans may also be affected. Insurance coverage may be affected.

      Course Overload

      • During the semester, full-time students may take any four courses regardless of their unit value, or five or six courses that total no more than 4.75 units, without additional tuition charges. An overload consists of five or six courses total more than 4.75 units, or more than six courses.

      • Students must be full-time;

      • Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0

      • First Year Students are not allowed to overload

      • Transfer Students in their first semester are not allowed to overload.

      • You will not be able to self-register for a course overload, you will need to fill out a course overload form and be sure to attach a screenshot of permission from your advisor and the course instructor.

You should consider your enrollment status carefully.  Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

      Thank you,
      The Registrar’s Office

Message #1, sent April 1, 2024 to all students:

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. EST time during each registration day and will complete by 3:30 p.m. EST each day.  If you have exceptional circumstances which will not allow you to register on your own and feel you need to register by proxy, please complete a proxy registration form as soon as possible and no later than Friday, April 12th by 1:00 p.m. EST.

REMEMBER to update your Emergency Contact information in APR2 since an Emergency Contact Hold prevents registration.  To update and CONFIRM YOUR EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION IN APR2, please follow these steps.
REMEMBER that you MAY NOT select a course Pass/Fail when registering.  Choosing to take a course Pass/Fail is a separate process requiring permission of the course instructor.
REMEMBER that if you register for a lab with no corresponding lecture, you will be dropped from the lab. Students registered in the lecture will have priority for the corresponding lab section.

      CHECK DISTRIBUTION/DIVERSITY TAGS CAREFULLY.

FOR THESE COURSES which have multiple lab sections (and peer pods for the BIOL and CHEM):

      • BIOL-101L, CHEM-103L, CHEM-221L, GEOL-103L, PHYS-103L, PHYS-151L, PSYC-101L
      • Register for the lecture on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, as in the past.  Registration for the required corresponding lab sections/peer pods for these classes will only be available beginning on Friday, April 19th at 9:00a.m. EST.  That way, you can set up the rest of your schedule and select an appropriate lab time at the end without worrying that others have taken all of the labs.
      • You will still be able to plan an appropriate lab/peer pod for each course before registration for these labs/peer pods begins on Friday.

BEFORE REGISTRATION BEGINS at 9:00 a.m. Monday, 4/15 we want to be sure you know:

Check for Financial and Academic Advising office holds on APR2.

      • If you do not follow through with clearing an Advising Hold by contacting the Academic Advising Office BEFORE 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th, there are no guarantees that your hold will be released in time for registration Monday morning.
      • If you do not follow through with clearing a Financial Hold by contacting the Student Financial Services Office BEFORE 1 p.m. on Friday, April 12th, there are no guarantees that your hold will be released in time for registration Monday morning.

Once you log in to APR2 on Monday, April 15th click on Student Planning, then click on Plan your Degree & Register for Classes.

      • Use only one device to register and make sure now that your browsers are up to date.
      • If any transfer credit you submitted is needed as a pre-requisite for a course for next semester, make sure now that the transfer credit is appearing on your APR2 record.

The registration schedule is as follows:
