LMS Update Announcement

Good afternoon everyone, 

We are excited to announce that the LMS selection process has chosen Canvas by Instructure as the next Learning Management System (LMS) at St. Lawrence University!!!!!  This decision has been a year in the making, and although this will not be a trivial project, we are confident that with the help of the Canvas project team, and our campus volunteers, this transition will go smoothly.

The implementation phase of the project will begin in Spring 2022 and continue through the summer with course site migrations and training opportunities, lots of training opportunities!  In the Fall of 2022, Canvas will be our official LMS.  Between now and then, there will be discussions and decisions made regarding what role Sakai will have during the fall semester.  There are several options on the table.  Please watch for updates throughout the Spring semester.  

The Educational Technologies Committee, EdTech, and the project team from Canvas will serve as the steering group for two working groups: the LMS Transition Team and the Technical Team.  We are committed to working with campus to provide direction, support, and resources to assist you throughout the transition.  For more information and additional detail on the proposed timeline, please visit the LMS transition webpage:  https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/information-technology/lms-transition-project

Please consider being a part of the LMS Transition working group in the Spring of 2022.  This work will involve the project implementation and transition from Sakai to Canvas.
