EMERGENCIES

Call Facilities Operations Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm all other times call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security; an emergency can be a heating/cooling problem, no electricity, smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) detector alarm, plumbing (water) leak, no hot water, no water, an over-flowing toilet, or anything that needs immediate attention.



Air Conditioning

While building occupants are welcome to bring their own fans, personal window air conditioning units are not allowed.  All cooling and heating issues can be reported to the Heating Plant at (315) 229-5205.



Appliance Issues (Refrigerator, Stove, Dishwasher, Washer, Dryer, and Microwave)

Submit a work order request for any appliance problem.  If the malfunction is an emergency, (e.g. electrical short, flooding) call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Bed Lofting

Contact your CA, building cleaner, or submit a work order request.



Bike Lock Removal

All requests for bike lock removal should be directed to (315) 229-5555, Safety & Security.



Certified Drivers

Information on how to become a certified driver can be found here on Safety & Security's website or by contacting (315) 229-5555 to reach Security.



Computer Network Problems

All computer problems call (315) 229-5770 to reach the IT help desk or submit an IT service request.   One exception is if the cable box is broken or pulled away from the wall; in this case please submit a work order request.



Door Combo Issues

To have the combination changed on a student room please call (315) 229-5250 to reach Residence Life.  If you are locked out of your room call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Door Lock Issue (Faculty/Student)

A work order request can be submitted to repair door locks, handles and key pads.  If a faculty/student can’t get into their room they can call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Grounds Issues

Snow removal, ice, compost, noise from mowing or construction, athletic field needs or landscaping issues can be reported by calling (315) 229-5601 to reach Facilities Operations or in the case of an emergency, call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Heating Issues

All under or over-heating should be reported to the Heating Plant at (315) 229-5205.

The campus heating season is not based on a set date. To determine when to turn-on or off the Central Heating Plant, temperature in buildings is monitored daily to ensure spaces remain between 68-72 degrees. Some buildings require heat before others depending on their size. Many of the buildings/residence halls have controls in the rooms that let the occupants adjust the temperature up or down. Individual room temperatures are also affected if the radiator/heating unit is blocked by furniture/clothes.



Key Requests

All key requests are made by completing a key request form.  After completing this form, a technician will be assigned to complete the request.

Maintenance Requests/ Procedure for Reporting a Problem (Work Orders)

Room maintenance problems should be reported via the online work order request system.  Should emergency conditions (see top of page) arise on weekends, holidays, or after the close of business the conditions should be immediately reported to Safety & Security (315) 229-5555. 

Office Moves

For office moves please submit an online work order request.

Painting Requests

All interior painting requests are reviewed by respective building managers.  For procedure and color choices click here.

Pest Control

Monthly campus visits are made by a pest control contractor for insects.  Please submit a work order request to report activity of insects, bats, squirrels, skunks, etc.  In case of an insect or rodent emergency, call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Recycling/Trash

To report a needed pickup of recycling or trash call (315) 229-5601 to reach Facilities Operations.



Rental House Issues

To report rental housing issues call (315) 229-5896 to reach the Finance & Admin. Office.  If the issue is an emergency call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Safety Issues

All safety issues, personnel or property, should be directed to (315) 229-5555, Safety & Security.



Screen/Window Issues

Screens and windows that need to be fixed should be reported by submitting an online work order request., if the issue is an emergency (broken window) call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Snow/Ice Removal

To report snow or ice needing removal call (315) 229-5601 to reach Facilities Operations, if the issue is an emergency call (315) 229-5555 to reach Safety & Security.



Telephone Issues

All telephone problems call (315) 229-5770 to reach the IT helpdesk or submit an IT service request



University Vehicle (Road Side) Assistance

When using a University vehicle a AAA card is provided for road side assistance.  The University does not provide road side assistance to personal vehicles for liability reasons.



Vehicle Rental

Certified drivers may reserve a St. Lawrence University vehicle after thoroughly reading the University Vehicle Policy.  The policy provides the procedures and forms necessary to reserve a vehicle.  For questions related to the policy call (315) 229-5601 to reach Facilities Operations.



Vehicle Repair or Malfunction

If you have submitted a work order request and have the work order number, the work order status may be checked online or by calling (315) 229-5601 to reach Facilities Operations.
