After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, over 80 faculty and staff reconnected during May College on May 24 and 25.
This year's development event theme, "Reconnect, Reset, Rekindle," encouraged groups to reflect on their shared mission and professional goals, and explore how to reset boundaries and expectations in working with students. The two-day event also featured discussion on how to rekindle scholarly and creative work, and a celebrated all the St. Lawrence community has achieved in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the first session, faculty and staff presenters shared the challenges they faced over the past few years and the strategies that helped them engage and support students. Other session topics included: social and emotional support for students, faculty, and staff; grading strategies that promote equity, and how to create a professional website.
Embracing the opportunity to connect with fellow Laurentians for the first time in two years, participants celebrated their colleagues' success with a grants reception and by writing "thank you" notes to those who have made an impact with their work and helped others overcome challenges.
