MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE/

ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA TEAMS

ON FRIDAY, November 7, 2025, STARTING AT 800 A.M.

Chairperson:    Pat Gagnon, Co-Chair, called meeting to order at 0801

Present: Marsha Sawyer, Marcus Sherburne, Kasarian Dane, Amber Jaquith, Secretary, Alana Belkevich, Mary Charlston, Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair, Sam Mace, Tara Tent, Pat Gagnon, Co-Chair, Carl Berg, Jim Kozsan, Bill Ritchie, Stacie Olney-LaPierre, Stacy Vassar, Suna Stone, Marijo Hagget, and Ceyda Kartal

Apologies: Tim Kinch, Steve Richards, Ethan Townsend

Approval of the Minutes: Minutes from October 3rd – Pat Gagnon made a motion to approve, Suna Stone, Seconded the motion, all other members concurred

Guest: none

New Business: 

Ceyda - Fire Inspections -  #1 - 35 total violations for improper use of extension cords

                                           #2 – 26 total violations for improper storage near ceilings

                                           #3 – 17 total violations for combustible fabrics on walls

                                           #4 – 7 cases of blocked exits or hallways

                                           #5 – 2 violations items hanging on sprinklers

                                           #6 – 1 case of smoking evidence found indoors

Building Inspections - #1 – 12 violations fire doors that do not shut or latch properly

                                    #2 – 6 violations of broken ceiling or missing tiles

                                    #3 – 4 violations for broken outlets or junction boxes

A total of 44 building violations

Asked for extension to fix some of these issues.  Re-inspection Nov 17th & Nov 20th

Talk about a tent permit procedure.
