What is Microsoft Teams Phone Service?
Microsoft Teams Phone Service is a cloud-based system that allows users to place and receive calls utilizing the Microsoft Teams application on their computer, tablet, or mobile device—without the need for a separate desk phone.
Will my phone number change?
No. All existing users will be able to keep their existing phone number.
What if I don't have a headset?
Will I still be able to hold and transfer calls?
Yes. Teams Calling allows for holding, merging, and transferring calls. They also allow departments to set up auto-attendants, delegates, and call groups to make sure calls are routed to the appropriate parties.
How will shared lines be affected?
Managing multiple phone lines on Teams can be done through various features that allow users to share a phone line with others and manage calls on behalf of another user.
Will I still have voicemail?
Yes. Voicemail will be saved as audio files and transcripts accessible via your email.
How do I prevent calls during meetings or class?
Setting your status to “Do Not Disturb” will suppress notifications including screen pop-ups and ringtones.
