Over the winter break, Dick ’64 and Gail Stradling Executive Director of the Center for the Environment Diane Husic, led St. Lawrence’s first offering of "Costa Rica: Geology, Tropical Ecology, and Sustainability." In this video, Vivienne G. Forstner '27 captures the wide range of experiences the class experienced while abroad.
The travel portion of the course was enriched by Professor of Biology & Geology Judith Nagel-Myers, who joined as a co-lead and shared insights into Costa Rica’s unique geology and future research opportunities, alongside expert naturalist and Lafayette College visiting professor Corey Husic.
Students met weekly in the fall semester to learn about issues they would later explore while in the country. While abroad, they had many unique opportunities to experience communities and landscapes thanks to Husic's long-time partnership with Israel Mesen of Tayra Educational Expeditions and the Camaquiri Conservation Initiative.
The course was offered in partnership with Tayra Educational Expeditions.
