August 2025: Academic Meet and Greet
On August 26th from 1-2 PM in Eben Holden, department chairs and academic program coordinators will be available for conversation with sophomores. Come discuss academic interests, fields of study, and potential majors and minors.
August 2025: Class of 2028 Picnic
See old friends and meet new classmates and members of the Sophomore Success Initiative team while enjoying a menu of jerk chicken, red beans and rice, along with other vegan and vegetarian options. This event will be held in the Herring-Cole Grove from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, August 26th as a part of our Fall Sophomore Tuesday celebrations.
October 2025: Off-Campus Study Open House
The Center for International and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) will offer an informational open house event in the Student Center on Thursday, October 9th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on various off-campus study options available to St. Lawrence students. Sophomores can gather useful information as they approach the off-campus study application process which culminates in early 2026.
November 2025: Selection of Spring Courses and Sophomore Seminars
Students will pick spring courses in early November, starting on Monday, November 10th. Your advisors, mentors, and the Sophomore Success Initiative team look forward to helping you select a great set of classes. As you're exploring, don't forget about the spring slate of sophomore seminars, designed for and open to 2nd-year students only, which will be announced in October.
January 2026: Sophomore Tuesday
Join the Sophomore Success Initiative team for the spring semester edition of Sophomore Tuesday, which will take place during the day on January 13th, 2025. You will receive one-on-one help with your off-campus study application and learn about opportunities from CIIS presenters. Look for registration information in December.
February 2026: Sophomore Declaration Week and Deadline
Sophomore Declaration Week will be in February 2026. During this week many departments will hold sessions for new and possible majors. These events are great opportunities to learn more about a major, plus meet faculty and other students. See here for events, updates, and other important information from 2025. The deadline for sophomores (students in their 4th semester) to submit their major declaration is Friday February 27, 2026.
March 2026: Declaration Celebration
You’ve Made it Halfway! Join the Sophomore Success Initiative and the Sophomore Class Council for the: “I Declare—You’re Halfway There Celebration.” DATE TBD. Food. Swag. Trivia. Sponsored by the Sophomore Success Initiative and the Sophomore Class Council.
