Health Education Week: April 4 - April 10

In honor of National Public Health Week, events and programs will explore topics related to physical health, mental health, and the connections between them. 

Monday:

Alcohol Awareness Tabling (with raffle!), 12-1 p.m., Sullivan Student Center First Floor Atrium

Join alcohol and substance use counselor Rachel Skelly for an interactive activity and a chance to win prizes!

Mental Health and Wellness Open Forum, 7-8:30 p.m., Hepburn 218

An opportunity for students to share concerns, ask questions, and learn what action steps St. Lawrence is taking to address student mental health and wellness. 

Tuesday:

Sleep Hygiene Tabling (with free giveaways!), 11-12:30 p.m. & 4:30-6 p.m., Sullivan Student Center First Floor Atrium

Stop by and see the Wellness Education team, pick up information about sleeping better, and grab some free goodies. 

Wednesday:

Mental Wellth Fireside Chat: Tame your end of the semester stress! 5-6 p.m., Torrey Health & Counseling Center

Instead of being exhausted, overwhelmed, and behind at the end of the semester, learn some quick steps you can take to tame your stress and feel ready to take on those exams, projects, papers, and presentations. Sponsored by the Counseling Center.

Friday:

Love Your Body Campaign: Stop by the tables in the Student Center Atrium from 2-4 p.m. to share something you love or appreciate about your body. The board will remain on display through the weekend.

 

Stress Less Week: November 1 – November 5

Monday:

Academic Relief: Concrete Strategies to Allocate Your Time and Energy Over the Next Six Weeks, 12-1 p.m., Sykes Common Room

Join Colleen, Matt, Tina, and Elun from Academic Advising, who will offer specific steps you can take to help you improve your motivation, regain your academic momentum, and reduce your stress level over the rest of the semester. After a short presentation, we will have time for Q&A, small group discussions, and one-on-one consultations.

Bring your lunch if you wish. (No re-entry to Dana—please bring everything you need for lunch.) Come when you can, leave when you need to.

Smash and De-Stress, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Top of the Quad

Join the LIGHT House to smash some plates and get your frustrations out!

Tuesday:

Stress Less Panel with Faculty & Staff, 5-6 p.m., Student Center Hannon Room

Join a panel of faculty and staff to hear more about our own de-stress strategies and engage in conversation about how you can stress less. 

De-Stress at the LIGHT House, 6:15 p.m., 17 College Street

Join wellness-focused theme house, LIGHT, at their house for a fun de-stress evening.

Wednesday:

Wellness Coaching, 6-7 p.m., Student Center Buckley Room (336)

This experiential group will focus on developing a better understanding of the concepts of self-care and wellness so students can develop a more compassionate and supportive relationship with themselves. Students will have the opportunity to complete a personal self-assessment to look at current patterns surrounding stress, their stress-response, and self-care practices. We will explore strategies for letting go of self-criticism, judgement, and unhealthy coping mechanisms to open space for a happier and healthy lifestyle.

Mindful Living & Guided Meditation Mini Retreat, 7-9 p.m., Herring-Cole Feinstone Room

Join practitioners from Grasse River Wellness to relax and recharge. This mini retreat will explore mindfulness and intentional living techniques, through use of hypnosis, visualization and energy healing techniques.

Thursday:

30-Minute Reiki Sessions, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Eben Holden Conference Center

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. Reiki practitioners use gentle touch (or hands hovering above the body, if preferred), to guide your body’s energy in a way that promotes balance and healing. Signups in advance required.

Signups required. Email wellness@stlawu.edu to receive a signup link and a required intake form to bring to your session.
