    Subject-Object Exhibition Available Online

    Work curated for the Subject-Object Exhibition by Associate Professor of Art and Art History Sarah Knobel is available for online viewing thanks to a website she built with Cassandra Raye Pryce '22, whose work is featured in the show. The exhibition is currently on display at the Richard F.     Virtual Organ Concert: Celebrating the Estey Organ

    The pipe organ housed in Gunnison Memorial Chapel was built by the Estey Organ Company, one of the largest organ companies in the world. Sondra Goldsmith performs in this virtual recital celebrating the Estey organ. Watch the concert.

    Saints Celebrate Wins; Winter Sports Continue

    Men's Squash swept the competition to secure 5-4 wins over Bowdoin, Colby, and Bates while Women’s Squash dominated Colby 8-1. The weekend wins continued with Women’s Swimming and Diving securing their fifth straight dual meet victory over Utica as Women’s Ice Hockey defeated Dartmouth 6-2 to celebrate their fourth straight win. Men’s Basketball defeated Vassar 51-50 after topping Canton 76-53 last week while Women's Basketball topped Bard in both match-ups (68-49 and 72-56). Men’s Ice Hockey skated to a 4-4 tie against Clarkson. During the Lake Placid Super Tour, Leif Harvey '25, Lilli Thomas '25, and Emma Strack '25 posted top finishes for Saints Nordic Skiing while Kathleen Merchant ’22, Jackson Hamilton ’23, and Timothy Boyce ’25 won their respective events at the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Middlebury Invitationals.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.     Skating Saints Honor Teddy Balkind

    Last weekend, Saints Men's Ice Hockey wore St. Lukes jerseys during their pre-game warmup against Clarkson to honor the life of Teddy Balkind, the son of Jon Balkind '89, who tragically passed away earlier this month.     Traditional Korean Folk Art, An Experiential Learning

    Recently Ah Ra Cho of Bada Studio joined Dr. Sean Han to teach students about traditional Korean folk art. Students had a chance to create a piece of art, with professional instruction, using materials and skills unique to Korea.

    Saints Track & Field Teams Win Ice Broken Open

    It was a great weekend to be a Saint as the men's and women's track and field teams kicked off their respective outdoor seasons by winning the Ice Broken Open against Plattsburgh, Herkimer, Potsdam, Mohawk Valley, and Clarkson. The home wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with men's tennis dominating RIT 8-1, women's tennis shutting out RIT 9-0, and men's lacrosse defeating St. John Fisher 20-11 after securing a 12-10 victory over Ithaca.     COVID-19 Campus Masking Update

    Academic Affairs and Student Life sent a message to the community on Monday, Feb. 14 announcing that the University has removed masking requirements for vaccinated students in residence halls effectively immediately. The University continues to require masks in all other campus locations, including classrooms and indoor public spaces. Read the Message

    Leading with Love: Spirituals and Civil Rights Movement Songs

    During this virtual program, President Kathryn Morris invites all Laurentians to participate in this week’s “Leading with Love: MLK in Black History Month” virtual events. Her statements in this year’s virtual recorded celebration of  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are featured alongside spirituals and civil rights songs played on the pipe organ by Musician-in-Residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, and commentary from University Chaplain the Rev.     Frostiana: An Evening With Robert Frost and Randall Thompson

    - Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall University Chorus, accompanied by pianist Gerri McGrath, will sing Randall Thompson's musical compositions of Robert Frost's poems. Craig Professor and Chair of English Sarah Gates and Assistant Professor of English Sookyoung Lee will perform readings. The event is free, open to the public, and available via live streaming.

    Online Film Screening: My Buddha is Punk

    - Zoom Directed by Andreas Hartmann, this film follows a young Burmese punk as he travels across the country to promote his philosophy- a symbiosis of Buddhism and punk that rejects religious dictates and political doctrine in the former military dictatorship of Myanmar. This event is had been moved online and is available via Zoom.

    - Launders Underground The Cocek! Brass Band will perform compositions inspired by the music of the Balkans, New Orleans, and other brass bands from around the world. There is limited seating for this in-person event.

    Top Liberty League Times for Men's Track and Field; WInter Sports Continue

    During the Fasttrack National Invite, Saints men’s track and field’s Timothy Boyce ’25 won the 800 meters, securing the top time in the Liberty League, and one of the top times in the country for a first-year student-athlete, while women’s track and fields’ Alli Sibold ’25, Katherine Sheehy ’23,  Emma Palumbo ’25 were the top Division III finishers in their respective events. Over the weekend, women’s basketball defeated RPI 64-59 while women’s ice hockey skated to a 1-1 tie with Brown, and men’s basketball beat Ithaca 80-79 in a close contest. During the Dartmouth College Carnival on Saturday, Tommy Kenosh '23 and Ava Mattsson '22 each won a slalom run for the Saints Alpine ski team, and last week, men’s tennis topped Saint Michael’s College 5-4 at home. Skating Saints Claire Dudley '22 was recently nominated for the 2022 Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year award which recognizes leaders on athletic teams, in the classroom, and in the community. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores.     Understanding Barriers to Outdoor Recreation

    Students in Sociology 101: Principles of Sociology left the traditional classroom behind to try the winter sports they were least familiar with to gain a better understanding of the barriers to outdoor recreation that many face. Under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Sociology Alanna Gillis, and with the support of the Outdoor Program, the hands-on experience of grappling with an unfamiliar activity inspired follow-up conversations and sociological analyses. View the photo on the St. Lawrence Instagram account
