    St. Lawrence University Senior Staff sent a message to employees announcing that the University has accepted the recommendation from the Campus Safety Monitoring Committee requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The final policy is posted on the University website. Read the message.

    For St. Lawrence University’s newest students, the journey to a new academic adventure in the North Country has been especially remarkable. Though a global pandemic may have disrupted their high school careers, they have already demonstrated a steadfast commitment to their academics and their communities.

    President Morris, New York Six Presidents Pen Joint Letter in Support of Increased Pell Grant Funding

    St. Lawrence University President Kathryn A. Morris joined together with the presidents of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium member institutions to send a joint letter to the United States Congress members representing their districts, asking them to support doubling the Pell Grant for qualified students.

    Professor Publishes Book on Religion and Politics

    Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Damon Berry has published a new book, “Christianity and the Alt-Right: Exploring the Relationship.” The book’s publisher, Routledge, describes it as “a must-read for those interested in religion in America, religion and politics, evangelicalism, and religion and race.”

    Government Professor Publishes Book on Israel

    Associate Professor of Government Ronnie Olesker has published a new book that explores Israel’s standing in the international community titled, “Israel’s Securitization Dilemma: BDS and the Battle for the Legitimacy of the Jewish State.”

    Broadcasted live on Sunday, August 22, this year's Matriculation event welcoming our new students and families is available for viewing. A fully captioned version will be available later this week.

    Convocation 2021
    Wednesday, August 25; 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Gunnison Memorial Chapel

    President Morris and Dean Schonberg will introduce our new faculty and staff colleagues, recognize newly tenured and promoted faculty colleagues, and recognize faculty colleagues newly appointed to endowed professorships. The Keene, Maslow, Taylor, and Coakley awards will also be presented.

    In-person attendees must be masked per the University's current masking policy. Those not in attendance may watch the program via the livestream.

    St. Lawrence University's men's and women's hockey teams will be on the ice in less than two months! Season tickets for the men's hockey games are now on sale, and admission to the women's games will still be free of charge, courtesy of North Country Savings Bank.     The St. Lawrence community is mourning the loss of a cherished family member, Emeritus Munsil Professor of Government Bob Wells, who taught at St. Lawrence for more than 45 years. Read the message from President Morris.

    COVID-19 Winter Break Testing

    A testing clinic will be offered Tuesday, December 21, from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Eben Holden (South Room); parking is available in Lot C. There will not be any on-campus testing clinics offered the week of December 27. Testing clinics will resume in the new year on Wednesday, January 5, from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in Eben Holden (South Room). These clinics are open to any current campus community member (students, faculty, and staff).

    Director of International Student Academic Support Robin Rhodes recently published a peer-reviewed book chapter in the "Handbook of Research on Policies and Practices for Assessing Inclusive Teaching and Learning."

    First-year students have the opportunity to jumpstart their health career pursuits thanks to a new program designed by St. Lawrence faculty and students.

    Former Saints Football Coach Inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

    Andy Talley coached the Saints Football team from 1979-1984. He was recently inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, making him the first coach in St. Lawrence history to receive the honor. Read more about his legacy.

    Women's Basketball Team Surprises New Teammate

    There’s nothing quite like the feeling when you know you’re going home. Head Coach Dan Roiger and the women’s basketball team recently surprised one of our newest Saints, Mason Baker ’26, by presenting her acceptance letter in person at one of the team’s basketball games.   3. Student Lenses on Social Change

    For Kaleb Davis ’22, being one of the first students to receive support through the Black Laurentian Initiative’s (BLI) Fund for Racial Justice and Equity Project (RJEP) is particularly symbolic. As one of the BLI’s early members, he watched the process of establishing the fund come full circle.

    Physics Majors Present Posters and Demonstrations

    Earlier this semester, Dr. Munir Pirbhai gave the students in his Phys-317 Instrumentation Lab a list of experiments to explore and gave them two minutes to choose one that sounded interesting, without looking up any details. They recently shared their findings.

    Annual Community Physician Reception

    Dr. Cynthia Mondesir, Dr. Heather Jones, Dr. Jillian Bartling, and Dr. Tim Atkinson served as panelists for Foundations of Medicine and pre-health students at the annual Community Physician Reception.

    Multi-Language Major Presents Paper at International Middle Eastern Studies Conference

    Billie McClosky '24 presented her paper “Reclaiming the Image of the Arab Women: Feminism and Empowerment through Photography and Social Advocacy” at the Middle Eastern Studies Association Conference in Denver, Colorado, on December 1st.

    - Online voting event It’s that time of the year again! Voting is now open for the images presented by my students in biology 392, Research Methods in Fluorescence and Confocal Microscopy. Voting will close on the 14th at noon.

    Skating Saints Sweep Weekend 

    It was a great weekend to be a Saint! Men's ice hockey swept the competition with a 4-0 win over Brown University on Saturday after skating to a 2-1 win over Yale University on Friday. The wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with men's basketball defeating Geneseo 85-70 on the road while women's basketball topped Clarkson 64-54 at home last week. For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.
