Student Rights for Survivors of Sexual Misconduct
All members of the St. Lawrence community should expect to be free from experiences of sexual misconduct, behavior that is inherently abusive of the humanity that each of us brings to the campus community. Sexual misconduct is against University policy and will not be tolerated at St. Lawrence.
Prevention
Ask for and give consent: St. Lawrence University and New York State use an Affirmative Consent standard.
Affirmative consent is a knowing, voluntary, and mutual decision among all participants to engage in sexual activity. Consent can be given by words or actions, as long as those words or actions create clear permission regarding willingness to engage in the sexual activity. Silence or lack of resistance, in and of itself, does not demonstrate consent. This guide to consent will help.
Response
Ensure your safety: If you are in any danger, or if you believe you may soon be in danger, do not hesitate to call for help. Securing your immediate safety is the first priority.

Reach out to someone: contact someone you trust for guidance and support. It can be someone you know, or someone on campus who is trained to help.
