Learning Goals for SSES

The specific learning goals of the Sports Studies component are framed with the intent that students will come to know and can demonstrate how sport and physical activity:

have been influenced by prevailing philosophy, society, and culture throughout time. (e.g. ethics; diversity issues of race, class, gender, ability/disability, age).

· have influenced change in prevailing philosophy, society, and culture, throughout time by not only showcasing issues of ethics and diversity, but more importantly providing a medium of engagement wherein such issues are directly addressed.

The specific learning outcomes of the Exercise Science component are framed on the intent that students will come to know and can demonstrate their understanding of:
· athletic injury treatment and prevention

· fitness planning

· psychological performance

· the developmental role of physical activity throughout the human lifespan
