In Memory: Neal Miller

Dear Laurentian community,

I write to share the sad news that Neal Miller has died. The former head custodian at St. Lawrence was 84.

Born in Ellenburg, New York, Neal was a builder. With his wife, Anna Duprey, he built a family that included four children, 11 grandchildren, as well as great- and great-great grandchildren.

Neal helped build the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Alcoa plant in Massena.

During his more than 30 years working on the St. Lawrence campus, Neal helped build this community. As he would say, he never met a stranger.

His colleagues in Facilities Operations recall the stories Neal told about his family, hunting and fishing trips, and his love for his cats. On campus, he is remembered as a down-to-earth-person who was well respected by all.

We are grateful to Neal for his service to St. Lawrence and our community. He took pride in his work ensuring that the campus was a clean, safe place where people could come together to teach, learn, and work.

Please join us in celebrating Neal’s life by sharing your memories of him on the St. Lawrence University website. You can read the remembrances of others here.

Sincerely,

Kate Morris
