Memories of Peter Ladd
Very sad to hear of Peter's passing. His conflict resolution class was the most useful one I took while getting my MEd at SLU. I often drew on it in my teaching as well as my work and personal life ... especially as a parent ... for which it should be a prerequisite. Grant Currie, M'09
Dr. Ladd was a good educator and a good person. I’m grateful I was able to take several of his courses. Thinking of his family during this difficult time. Katie Dolan, M '24
Dr. Ladd conducted my interview for the graduate program at St. Lawrence and I had him as a professor for several of my classes. He was a wonderful instructor and mentor who played a pivotal role in my graduate education experience. He will be greatly missed. Laura Lavoie, Wellness Education, M '07, M '09
A couple of years after I arrived at St. Lawrence University in 1990, I found myself slowly ambling up the walkway to Atwood Hall to teach my 7PM counseling class. Peter Ladd was coming out of the building and he observed my less than enthusiastic state. He stopped and smiled while pointing to his face and then to my mouth. Without uttering a word, Peter got his message across. Within a few moments, upon entering the classroom, I smiled and greeted the students at the table. Since this long ago time and on every occasion since, I begin my class and presentations with a smile. The students benefit and emotionally relate to my effort to connect as a person.
In many encounters with Peter over the 25 years that I worked with him, I learned from his creative and human ways of knowing that added to my life and to the lives of students in the counseling program at the University. Like so many, I miss the times we could be together. Rest in Peace, Dear Peter. Arthur Clark, Education
