Memories of Ellen Galo

Ellen was a wonderful friend and teacher. Our lives crossed over in many ways - church, work, kids. I truly enjoyed her friendship and advice and counsel over the years. The news of her death saddens me greatly, and I send condolences to others who knew and loved her.  Kathryn Mullaney, Finance

I remember Ellen - and her husband Gary -from the many years she was secretary for the chemistry department when I was a professor there (1983-2006). She was always diligent and cheerful and went well beyond her duty in support of my several activities there. It was also through her that I got to know her husband Gary with whom I had many conversations on music and his role as sound engineer for the Crane School of Music.  He was a fountain of information on anything to do with music and recording. He came on my program on WSLU and shared his enthusiasm on these subjects. I am so sad to hear about Ellen's passing and I wish Gary all the kindness he so deserves at this very difficult time for him. Hugs. Paul   Paul Connett, Chemistry

I loved knowing Ellen Galo. She served as secretary for a neighboring department, so first I just knew her in passing. And then she signed up for my Graph Theory class! This is a 300-level advanced math class. Ellen received a 4.0 in the course, and did way more than that. She was smart, curious, talented in so many ways. I loved having her in class. For her final paper in the course, she investigated the self-complementary graphs of order 8. Her paper was spectacular. She continued working on the subject after the course was over, and she ended up publishing her research in a mathematics journal and presenting her results at more than one mathematics conference. We can add this to all the other accomplishments listed in her obituary. She lived a full and rich life. I am grateful to have known her and I will miss her. Sending my sympathies to her family and friends.  Patti Frazer Lock; Math, CS, and Statistics
