Dumpster Visibility & Safety Concern (62 Park / F Lot Entrance)

Issue raised by Amber Jaquith (via email from Laura Lavoie): Dumpsters behind 62 Park obstruct visibility for vehicles entering/exiting F Lot from Lincoln Street. Near‑miss incidents reported.

Discussion & Findings:

  • Ceyda:
    • Recently observed a dumpster placed too far into the roadway; submitted a work order and it was moved back.
    • Recommendations:
      • Fixing the large pothole at the entrance (drivers swerve around it, worsening visibility issues).
      • Adding slow‑down signage due to fast‑entering student drivers.
      • Possibly adjusting dumpster orientation (parallel to porch), though potholes complicate placement.
  • Marcus:
    • Dumpsters are angled specifically so the truck can “stab” them; turning them would make pickup impossible.
    • Moving them would remove four student parking spaces.
    • Even if repositioned, drivers will likely place them back where pickup is easiest.
    • Suggestions:
      • Fix potholes
      • Consider a speed bump
      • Keep dumpsters where they are for now
      • Ask staff to check placement regularly during compost pickups

Consensus: Start with pothole repair and signage. Monitor the situation. Revisit relocation only if problems persist.
