MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE/
ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA TEAMS
ON FRIDAY, September 12, 2025, STARTING AT 800 A.M.
Chairperson: Pat Gagnon, Co-Chair, called to order at 0800

New Business:
“Shelter in Place” drill scheduled for today 09/12/2025 at 2pm campus wide – 10 min duration
Security went to a Webinar on Swatting given by the FBI. This is happening to more and more schools and to be aware of the most prominent characteristic of it being a fake threat is only a single call or email relaying the threat. We set up many alerts for all the different situations that can occur, so we are ready if something were to happen.
Room Burn on September 5th was a success. The students really liked it and were really interested in this. Will continue to do this in the future.
Stacey Olney LaPierre – They have given the students guidance on how to safely set up their rooms in regards to how to plug in different appliances and the “do’s and don’ts” for dorm safety. Fridges need to be plugged into the wall not a power strip. Pat Gagnon and Suna Stone will be doing inspections in the future of all dorms to make sure rules are followed so we can keep our campus safe.

Future Meetings: The Safety Committee meetings will continue to be the first Friday of the month starting in October from 8:00am-9:00am: 10/3/2025, 11/7/2024, 12/5/2024, 2/6/2025, 3/6/2025, 4/3/2025, 5/1/2025 and 6/5/2025.
Meetings will continue to be held on Teams with the link included in the announcement/agenda the week of the meeting for the community.
