MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE/
ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA ZOOM
ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2025, STARTING AT 800 A.M.
Chairperson: Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair, called meeting to order at 0803
Present: Marsha Sawyer, Marcus Sherburne, Kasarian Dane, Amber Jaquith, Secretary, Alana Belkevich, Bob Hance, Mary Charlston, Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair, Sam Mace, Ethan Townsend, and Tara Tent, Pat Gagnon, Carl Berg, and Suna Stone

Approval of the Minutes: Minutes from September 12th – Nick Ormasen made a motion to approve, Marsha Sawyer, Seconded the motion, all other members concurred

New Business:
1 - Ceyda Kartal will be taking Dean Manley’s position as EHS Coordinator. She will start Oct 18th. She will also be on the safety committee starting next month.
2 – Suna – Some Staff has mentioned to her about concerns of the students smoking indoors and maybe a Smoke Hut would be an idea for the students. Right now, with budget concerns we will table this. Pat & Ceyda will be working on a write-up for the students on Fire Safety and mention the rules of smoking on campus.

Future Meetings: The Safety Committee meetings will continue to be the first Friday of the month starting in October from 8:00-9:00 a.m.: 11/7/2024, 12/5/2024, 2/6/2025, 3/6/2025, 4/3/2025, 5/1/2025 and 6/5/2025.
Meetings will continue to be held on Teams with the link included in the announcement/agenda the week of the meeting for the community.
