MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE/

ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA ZOOM

ON FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2024, STARTING AT 800 A.M.

Chairperson:    Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair, called to order at 0800

Present: Dean Manley, Stacie Olney-LaPierre, Mary Charleston, Stacy Vassar, Jim Kozsan, Alana Belkevich, Susan Johnson, Secretary, Bob Hance, Sharmela Garcia-Martin, Ethan Townsend, Tara Tent, Marsha Sawyer and Chidera Nwenyi

• Annual Accident Report – Dean Manley
  • Reporting period August 2023-April 29, 2024
  • Reminder that upon accident/incident employee must notify supervisor immediately at max 24 hours after incident.
  • If medical attention is needed, contact Safety & Security
  • Supervisors must complete accident report form with employee online (found at https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/environmental-health-and-safety/incidentinjury-form)
  • There is also a Report Potential Hazard or Share Safety Idea Form that can be found at https://stlawu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_czEw7JubgCLiQgS.
• Some quick facts:
  • Slips, trips, and falls, 17
  • Sprains and strains, 2 down from 13 in 2022-23!
  • Bruises and cuts, 13
  • WC claim costs have been decreasing since 2019-2023.
  • 51 total reports as of 4/29/24 down from 89 in 2021-22 and 59 in 2022-23!
