MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE

ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA ZOOM

ON FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2025, STARTING AT 800 A.M.

Chairperson Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair called meeting to order at 0801

Present: Patrick Gagnon, Co-Chair, Alana Belkevich, Mary Charleston, Kasarian Dane, Jim Kozsan, Dean Manley, Stacie Olney-LaPierre, Susan Johnson, Marcus Sherburne, Suna Stone, Sam Mace, Marsha Sawyer, Bob Hance and Erik Perry

New Business: 

 Suna - Review of the Integrated Pest Management Plan

  • Marcus presented the IPM, virtually no change from 2024.
    • Only Athletic Fields are treated CLOSED
  • There will be a CPR course offered on Thursday March 13th at 5pm in Hepburn 021. The course is approximately 3 hours long and will cost $65 for faculty/staff and $50 for students for a certificate (Cash or Check). It is free if they just want to sit for the instruction and no certificate. CLOSED

Old Business:

  • Jim Kozsan, Bob Hance and Pat Gagnon have been working on a plan for classroom security which involves replacement of the existing lock mechanism in most cases.  The existing locks will be replaced with an ADA compliant lock which meets NYS Fire Code criteria as well.  The proposed classroom lock mechanism will be reviewed by Senior Staff and a decision will be made regarding funding of the project and potentially moving forward. CLOSED

Future Meetings: The Safety Committee meetings will continue to be the first Friday of the month.  Future dates are 4/4/2025, 5/2/2025 and 6/6/2025. Meetings will continue to be held on Zoom.
