MINUTES OF ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAFETY COMMITTEE/

ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAMPUS SECURITY HELD VIA ZOOM

ON FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2024, STARTING AT 800 A.M.

 

Chairperson:    Patrick Gagnon, Co-Chair

Present:  Nick Ormasen, Co-Chair, Dean Manley, Stacie Olney-LaPierre, Suna Stone, Mary Charleston, Stacy Vassar, Sharmela Garcia-Martin, Ethan Townsend, Jim Kozsan, Tara Tent, Marsha Sawyer, Marcus Sherburne, Chidera Nwenyi and Alana Belkevich

Apologies:  Susan Johnson, Secretary, Traci Grainger, Bob Hance,  Tim Kinch, Steve Richards, Bill Ritchie, and Kasarian Dane (on Sabbatical)

New Business:

  • People parking in traffic circle at Johnson Hall.  Safety and Security has been enforcing no parking at this location.  Please contact Safety and Security if anyone is seen parking there. CLOSED
  • Appleton parking:
    • Marcus stated it will be very expensive for lighting
    • Will be used for RV parking for Commencement
  • Reduction in employee workplace accidents on campus
    • We're thrilled to see fewer injuries on campus, thanks to the concerted efforts of our Facilities, Security and Safety, and the Environmental Health and Safety departments. This has not only reduced workers' compensation premiums but, more importantly, it means fewer people are getting hurt. Remember to report accidents promptly to supervisors. Thank you for your commitment to safety!
