St. Lawrence University announced its 2021-22 Moving-Up Day academic award winners, as well as Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa’s newest inductees on Saturday, April 30.
As our world becomes smaller and our country more diverse, understanding the cultures, societies and ecologies of North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean is crucial for the next generation of young adults. This broad, interdisciplinary program explores current issues of power, human rights, social justice, development, sustainability, migration and transnational identities. The CLAS minor fulfills the ILC requirement and offers a regional specialization to students pursuing a multitude of different majors. Additionally, the CLAS minor ties directly to study abroad options in locations like Trinidad, Costa Rica and Spain.

St. Lawrence University announced the promotion of several faculty members at the start of the 2021-22 academic year. The promotions were celebrated during the University’s annual Convocation, which was held Wednesday, August 25. All promotions are effective September 1, 2021.
St. Lawrence University Associate Professor and Coordinator of Caribbean, Latin American, and Latino Studies Martha Chew Sánchez recently combined her research and experiences to provide an in-depth and comprehensive examination of femicide in Mexico in her new book titled Coloniality, Feminism, and Neoliberalism.
