Retirees Celebrated for Careers of Service to St. Lawrence
St. Lawrence University recently honored faculty and staff retirees whose collective careers span nearly every corner of campus life—from academics and admissions to dining services, facilities, safety and security, advancement, and student support. Together, this year’s retirees represent more than 747 years of service to the Laurentian community.
Among those honored were longtime faculty members Cathy Crosby (Psychology), Joe Erlichman and Mike Temkin (Biology), and Patti Frazer Lock and Robin Lock (Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics). All were granted emeriti status by the Board of Trustees at its May meeting.
The University also recognized distinguished staff leaders and administrators, including Bill Short, director of the Higher Education Opportunity Program; Debbie Bishop of the First-Year Program; Eileen LaCourse of International and Intercultural Studies; Darlene Gonyea and Wendy Stowe of Admissions; Pat Gagnon and Julie Rutherford of Safety and Security; and Marabeth Peets of Dining and Conference Services.
President Kate Morris thanked honorees for the lasting impact of their work and dedication to students and colleagues across generations of Laurentians.
“Today is a day to remember that each of our roles is integral to our collective success, and that together we create what is truly special about the experience that is St. Lawrence,” Morris said during the celebration.
The University also recognized retirees who were unable to attend the celebration, including Marcia Bradley (Chaplain’s Office), Karen Butler (Human Resources), Tonki Downs (University Advancement), Karen Foster (Art & Art History), Bob Hance and Kevin Wilcox (Facilities Operations), Alan Lockard (Economics), Susie Johnson (Safety and Security), and Cathy Tedford (Brush Art Gallery).
