MCSS Faculty and Student Shine at MCCNNY Conference
Faculty and students from the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics (MCSS) were well represented at the Mathematics Conference of the Capital Region of New York (MCCNNY), held on Saturday, April 11 at Clarkson University. The conference was organized by faculty from several local colleges, including Dan M. Look, and featured research talks and keynote addresses from across the region.
Daniel Condon delivered an invited keynote address entitled “Polyominoes and Problems in Discrete Geometry,” showcasing ongoing research and highlighting open problems of interest in discrete mathematics.
The department was also proud to see student research recognized at the conference. Katie Hallett, an MCSS student completing her Senior Year Experience (SYE) under faculty supervision, presented her research talk, “Winning Strategies for Arc Kayles on a Hypercube.” Her presentation was awarded Best Oral Presentation, a significant achievement at a regional mathematics conference.
Congratulations to Katie on this outstanding honor, and to all involved for representing the MCSS department so positively within the broader academic community!
