Laurentian Olympians Bring National Attention to St. Lawrence
Looking back on the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and ahead to the Paralympic Opening Ceremony March 6, we're still celebrating our 11 Laurentian Olympians and grateful for the positive attention they've brought to St. Lawrence while competing on the world stage.

NBC Sports
NBC Sports collaborated with St. Lawrence in a post on their Instagram page celebrating Emma Gatcliffe ’27 for becoming among the first alpine skiers to compete at a Winter Olympics for Trinidad and Tobago. Emma, who served as one of the country’s flagbearers in the opening ceremony, is also the first woman to ever represent Trinidad and Tobago in the Winter Games.
U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report featured St. Lawrence in an article for being among the 16 colleges sending the most Olympians to Milan Cortina. St. Lawrence sent five athletes to Italy, along with six coaches and executives.

7News aired a broadcast segment covering Emma Gatcliffe’s ’27 celebratory sendoff to the Winter Games from her sorority house, Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she was cheered on by dozens of students, staff, and faculty as she drove away to the airport flanked by an escort of firetrucks and police cars.

North Country Now also covered Emma Gatcliffe’s ’27 sendoff to the Winter Games, including words of encouragement and admiration from St. Lawrence’s head alpine skiing coach Willi Steinrotter.

St. Lawrence was featured in a writeup on NCAA.com for being among the 36 NCAA schools represented in this year's Olympic women's ice hockey field.
Julia Gosling ’24 represented Canada, and Kristen Guerriero ’22 and Justine Reyes ’19 represented Italy. Incoming first-year Barbora Jurickova ‘30 represented Czechia, and Britni Smith ’10 represented Canada as a coach, while Gina Kingsbury ’04 represented Canada as a general manager.

St. Lawrence was featured in NNY360 alongside Clarkson University for sending its athletes to the Olympic Games.
NBC10 Philadelphia
NBC10 Philadelphia featured Kelly Curtis M’14 in a story about her second Olympic appearance at the Milan Cortina Games, where the Princeton, New Jersey native represented Team USA and placed 12th in Women’s Skeleton events.
In Beijing, Curtis became the first Black Athlete to represent Team USA in skeleton.
