Habib Battah Receives National Press Club Journalism Award
Assistant Professor of Digital Media & Film Habib Battah has been recognized with the 2026 Arthur E. Rowse Award for Examining the News Media from the National Press Club. Battah received the award alongside collaborators Christina Cavalcanti and Annia Ciezadlo for their investigative reporting project, "Israel's Willing Propagandists: What the Media Won't Tell You When it Embeds with the Military."

Presented annually, the National Press Club Journalism Awards honor outstanding journalism from news organizations and journalists across the country. This year's competition recognized 18 award-winning entries spanning a wide range of topics and media formats.
Battah is an investigative journalist, political analyst, and founder of Beirut Report. Over the past two decades, he has covered Lebanon and the Middle East for publications including The Guardian, BBC News, Al Jazeera English, CNN, Fortune, and Jacobin. He is a former journalism fellow at Oxford University and the American University of Beirut, where he has also taught journalism and media studies.
The National Press Club award adds to Battah's distinguished record of journalistic achievement. His work has previously been recognized with the Columbia University Oakes Award for outstanding local reporting and the Samir Kassir Press Freedom Award, which he has received twice.
