Join CITA for a workshop exploring the renewed use of oral exams as a way to assess student learning in the age of AI.
While for many, oral exams conjure up memories of demanding graduate school experiences, they are in the midst of a resurgence due to uncertainty about student use of AI. They can also range in form, from the traditional interrogative approach to discussion-based, conversational, or reflective forms.
In this session, we will examine different ways of introducing oral exams to your courses, their advantages and disadvantages, and whether or not the most common challenges to the approach can be addressed.
