Active Learning in Large and Lecture-Based Classes

Special Events

Active learning has been shown to significantly improve student engagement and learning outcomes, but implementing these strategies can feel challenging in large or lecture-based courses. This workshop, hosted by the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Assessment, explores practical ways to integrate active learning into instructional settings that don’t always lend themselves to small-group work.

This session will cover ways to extend active learning strategies to large classes and courses that are more lecture heavy. The lessons shared will be helpful for anyone who incorporates lecture into their pedagogy, particularly in classroom settings where small-group work is not always feasible.
