Memories of Jeff Killeen

The world needs more people like Jeff Killeen. He was one of the kindest humans that I have had the chance to meet. He was interested in how to best solve problems for whatever organization he worked with. Jeff will be missed, but his impact will be felt for generations.

Paul Redfern, Vice President for University Communications and Institutional Strategy

Jeff Killeen was truly as good of a person as you will find in this world. He was extremely kind and positive without being naive. On the contrary, he had a discerning intellect that allowed him to see problems and solutions clearly. Despite his many accomplishments, Jeff had a palpable humility that made him very approachable. The world needs more people like Jeff and he will be sorely missed.

Steve Hietsch, Vice President for Finance and Administration

What a privilege it was to work with Jeff on the ESL Task Force. He was smart, capable, and kind in equal measure, and that makes him a rare and special person. The world feels a little bit emptier without him, but he offset that feeling with the good he did.

Chris Watts, Music

Jeff was an amazing human. Smart, high energy, affable, friendly and a joy to spend with. Our common love for antique wooden boats was something about which we talked a lot. He was a whirlwind of activity for St. Lawrence and the Board of Trustees. His contributions to the task force and the changes he helped bring to the curriculum will be his gift to the Laurentian community for a long time. Thank you Jeff for everything: Your commitment, hard work and friendship. Rest well, my man. Whenever I think about you, I will smile.

Scott O'Connell '87, Government Major

I had the privilege and honor to work closely with Jeff Killeen as part of the Experience St. Lawrence Task Force. I feel so lucky that I had that opportunity to get to know him. What a kind, smart, humble, and overall wonderful human being! He gave so much of his time and expertise, not only to his alma mater but to other noble causes. The world is a better place because of Jeff. Jeff, you will be missed but definitely not forgotten.

Ana Y. Estevez, Biology and Psychology

Jeff and I hit it off when he entered St. Lawrence. He was my pledge son at Sigma Chi. We both were goalies in lacrosse. Later we both would enter the publishing industry. Jeff was a great guy...smart and sincere...a good sense of humor. His commitment to SLU demonstrated his loyalty to his beliefs. There's a gap in my heart that we lost him when he would have continued to do so much good for all around him. RIP Jeff.
