Sophomore Greg Lapointe's Comeback Season is Bigger Than Hockey After helping the Skating Saints win the ECAC Hockey Championship in 2021, Greg Lapointe '25 received life-changing news. His journey back to the ice has been nothing short of amazing.

Saints Accelerate Through the Power of Networking and Career Exploration The Center for Career Excellence launched Saints Accelerate, a career development and preparation program designed to help students discover various career paths and possibilities, strengthen their networking abilities and confidence, and of course, have some fun!

An Evening with Acclaimed Musician and Race Relations Expert Daryl Davis St. Lawrence University and the Ken Okoth ’01 Black American Music Project will welcome acclaimed musician and race relations expert Daryl Davis for an evening lecture and show on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Meet Our Six New Majors Over the past two years, St. Lawrence has added six new bachelor's degree programs across disciplines. These programs represent cutting-edge fields in which graduates are in high demand and future Laurentians will excel thanks to their liberal arts education.

Women’s Hockey Olympian Night Scarlet and brown filled the stands in Appleton Arena this weekend with so much to celebrate—starting with a banner raising to honor current and former St. Lawrence women's hockey Olympians and ending with a well-earned weekend sweep. View photos from Olympian Night on the St. Lawrence Facebook.

Saints to Compete in Liberty League Matchups It was a great weekend to be a Saint! On Saturday, Saints men's basketball closed out the regular season with a 71-63 win over Union, the team's sixth straight victory, after topping Skidmore 65-55 on Friday. Both the men's and women's basketball teams will head to the Liberty League Semi-Finals this weekend. The wins for the Scarlet and Brown continued with Saints men's and women's tennis teams securing a pair of 9-0 wins over SUNY Oneonta at home on Saturday while men's hockey beat Cornell 1-0 on the road and women's hockey beat Princeton 3-1 at home after defeating Quinnipiac 4-1 on Friday.  During the CSA Team Nationals on Sunday, women's squash beat Haverford College 8-1 and several members of the Saints swimming and diving and track and field teams secured individual wins to qualify for league championships. Building a Laurentian ‘Dream Team’ in Boston

In the fall of her senior year, Eleanor Napoli '20 saw a LinkedIn post in the St. Lawrence University group advertising an open position in the Northwestern Mutual Boston Downtown office. Knowing how helpful St. Lawrence alumni are, she felt comfortable connecting directly with Madison Wilcox '14, who authored the post, to learn about how she navigated life after graduation.

Celebrating Student Scholarship and Creativity After spending a year or more investigating topics that spark their curiosity and motivate them to dig deeper, St. Lawrence students presented their research findings and showcased their talents during this year's Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity on Friday, April 29.

St. Lawrence Staff Member Earns Regional Award St. Lawrence Executive Director of Campus Services and Outreach René Thatcher was named the inaugural recipient of the Mark Berman Community Outreach Award, recognizing her commitment to uniting people in the field of higher education.

St. Lawrence Recognizes Moving-Up Day Award Winners St. Lawrence University announced its 2021-22 Moving-Up Day academic award winners, as well as Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa’s newest inductees on Saturday, April 30.

St. Lawrence Honors Retirees, Anniversaries St. Lawrence University recognized faculty and staff retirements and celebrated employee anniversaries at a ceremony recognizing a combined total of 175 years of service to St. Lawrence from those marking their 25th anniversary—and a staggering 977 years of service among our retirees.

Chalk-o-late: Chocolate Passport Project Creates Street Art Students in Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Sara Ashpoles' Environment & Chocolate First-Year Seminar recently shared their values surrounding food sovereignty and sustainability through on-campus street art created using chalk.

Student's Work Published in Time Out London During London Semester Program Sarath Novas ’23 is currently abroad in London and participating in a work placement with Time Out London, a global media and hospitality business writing about events, food, and attractions in cities around the world. Several of her news stories about springtime events were recently published online but the London-based media group.

Drew Lanham, an award-winning poet and an alumni distinguished professor of wildlife ecology in the Forestry and Environmental Conservation Department at Clemson University. This reading is supported in part by the Sandra Nelson Memorial Poetry fund.

Saints Shatter Records; Head to Liberty League Championships The Saints track and field teams dominated the Intercollegiate Twilight Meet as Kimberly Merchant ’22 set a program record in the discus and several Saints secured top spots in their competitions as they head into the Liberty League Championships this weekend. Women’s lacrosse is headed to the Liberty Leagues after defeating RIT 21-14 to set a new program record for wins in a season and securing a 16-13 victory over Nazareth while men’s tennis beat Ithaca 6-3 after dominating SUNY Oswego 9-0 on the road. Saints Baseball defeated Skidmore 15-5 and 18-8 in a doubleheader after securing a 22-6 win over SUNY Canton 22-6 earlier in the week. Over the weekend, the softball team concluded its regular season while the men’s and women’s rowing and golf teams closed their respective seasons during the Liberty League Championships.  For up-to-date schedules, news, and scores visit SaintsAthletics.com.

Messages to the Community

COVID-19 Booster Clinic  In accordance with public health recommendations, a COVID-19 vaccination booster is required for all St. Lawrence University students and employees within 30 days of becoming eligible. A free booster clinic will be offered Thursday, February 24 at the SUNY Canton campus. Register for the booster clinic.

St. Lawrence Adds New Digital Media and Film Major St. Lawrence has created a new bachelor's degree program in digital media and film, preparing graduates for careers in the media industry through digital content creation, new media, and a commitment to social justice.

Online Film Screening: My Buddha is Punk Mon, Feb 21 at 6pm - 1 hour 20 minutes Zoom Directed by Andreas Hartmann, this film follows a young Burmese punk as he travels across the country to promote his philosophy- a symbiosis of Buddhism and punk that rejects religious dictates and political doctrine in the former military dictatorship of Myanmar. This event is had been moved online and is available via Zoom.

Cocek! Brass Band Concert Tue, Feb 22 at 8pm - 1 hour 30 minutes Launders Underground The Cocek! Brass Band will perform compositions inspired by the music of the Balkans, New Orleans, and other brass bands from around the world. There is limited seating for this in-person event.

Diversity and Inclusion Week 2023 Mon, Feb 27 - All day St. Lawrence University’s Diversity Committee is excited to celebrate our fifth Diversity & Inclusion week.

Sophomore to Compete in 2022 Winter Paralympic Games Sydney Peterson '24, a neuroscience major and member of Saints Nordic ski team, will represent Team U.S.A. as she competes for gold in Para Nordic Skiing at the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing, China. Read her story.

Former Saints Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach to be Honored with IWLCA Hall of Fame Induction Longtime St. Lawrence women's lacrosse and field hockey coach Dotty Hall will be enshrined in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in November. Hall was one of the most successful coaches in the history of Saints women's athletics with a combined win total of 306 victories in field hockey and lacrosse. Read her story.

Saints Head to Liberty League Championships; Swim Program Records Shattered The men’s and women’s track and field teams are headed to the Liberty League Championships after winning the SLU Open against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Vermont, Mohawk Valley, and SUNY Potsdam last weekend. During the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca, the women's swimming and diving team shattered program records in the 800 freestyle relay and 4x400 freestyle as Maggie Wenger '24 set a new 100 freestyle program record. Over the weekend, men’s basketball defeated Union 81-62 to secure a first-round playoff game after topping Skidmore 65-64 and women’s basketball beat Skidmore 76-45 to secure their 20th win of the season. Men’s ice hockey defeated Cornell 2-1 in an overtime contest on Friday while women’s ice hockey skated to a 3-3 tie with Harvard last week and men’s tennis beat SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday.
