Saints Secure First Place Finishes; Spring Sports ContinueThe Saints track and field teams secured several first-place wins at the Cortland Classic over the weekend. Lambert ’22 won the decathlon while Mike Skutt ’24 won the 10k to lead the men’s track and field team and Oliva Watson ’23 won the 5k while Olivia Bernier ’24 won the 10k to lead the women’s team. The wins continued with Saints Softball defeating RIT 6-4 on the road after dominating SUNY Potsdam 10-2 and 7-3 while baseball secured a 13-6 win over Clarkson in a Route 11matchup. Men’s lacrosse defeated RPI 11-7 after beating Clarkson 17-6 while women’s lacrosse dominated Vassar 16-8 after topping Clarkson 18-16. Saints Football’s Kyle Frimel ’22 was selected as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and several members of the football team were named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, recognizing student-athlete academic excellence. Scarlet, Brown, and Green for SustainabilityLast weekend St. Lawrence hosted the North Country Sustainability Day and Green Living Fair in collaboration with The Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley, Paul Smith’s College, Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County, the municipalities of Canton and Potsdam, and the Local Living Venture. New 2024 Alpha Alpha Alpha InducteesSt. Lawrence's Eta Nu chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha first-generation college honors society inducted their newest class. Twenty-seven students and eight faculty and staff were inducted into the society. To be eligible, students needed to earned a GPA of at least a 3.2 and completed 9 units of coursework, while faculty and staff needed to have earned at least a bachelor's degree as a first-generation college student. |

Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in History, earned in the classroom, online or through AP or transfer credits (or a combination thereof). A minimum GPA of 3.1 in History and 3.0 GPA overall are required. |

Representing those who were stolen or never returned home, the One Earring project was inspired by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services exhibition of the same title in 2022. |

Tis' The Season of Softball, Baseball, Golf, and Lacrosse!Jimmy King '26 was named the Individual Champion at the Liberty League Championships, leading Saints men’s golf to a second-place finish at the par-72 Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone on Sunday. There was a playoff to determine the individual champion and Jimmy won on the second playoff hole. Jimmy finished with par on the first hole. Jimmy's opponent hit an errant drive on the second hole, leaving Jimmy with the win and a par. Judge Murphy '24 tallied six goals and an assist for seven points to lead the third-ranked Saints men's lacrosse team to a 15-10 upset win over fourth-ranked RPI on Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York. With the win, the Saints clinched the second seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and earned regular season co-championship honors, with three teams finishing league play at 6-1. Second to Judge, Daniel Mahoney '27 recorded four goals and two ground balls, while Ted Wilson '26 scored twice. Two goals each from Liz Evans '24 and Jessica LaPlaca '27 were unfortunately not enough, as the seventh-seeded Saints women's lacrosse team fell 19-6 in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament to William Smith Tuesday. Both Saints baseball and softball wrapped up their regular seasons with two wins over the weekend. Baseball took two of three games against Clarkson, while softball swept Skidmore. Softball heads to RPI this weekend, hoping to lock down a playoff spot, while baseball engages Clarkson once more in the end-of-season series. Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity! ❤️🤎On Friday, we forego regularly scheduled classes to celebrate our students’ academic accomplishments during the Festival of Science, Scholarship, and Creativity. This year, we learned how stress affects metamorphosis in frogs, how students think about sustainability on campus, how retinol has changed our relationship with aging, and how math can help us make better decisions in games like Monopoly or Dungeons and Dragons (among many other fascinating topics). During our annual Dance Showcase, we watch 16 students perform contemporary, jazz, Irish step, and classical pointe numbers. In the Brush Art Gallery, our gallery exhibition focused on “what we hold.” The 12 senior artists featured used a variety of mediums to consider the things in their lives that are hard to let go of—for better or worse. We couldn’t be prouder of all our students who shared their curiosity and creativity on Friday. In a ceremony celebrating academic excellence, determination, faculty and alumni mentorship, and the lasting impact of a liberal arts education, more than 550 St. Lawrence University graduates took part in the University’s Commencement ceremony held on Sunday, May 21 in Newell Fieldhouse.
After St. Lawrence’s Class of 2022 flip their tassels, they’ll enter the world prepared to leave it better than they found it. After four years of taking inspiring classes, encountering new perspectives around the globe, volunteering in their communities, conducting purposeful research, following creative pursuits, and working with passionate Laurentian mentors, they have the tools they need to make an impact wherever they go next.
